HOW TO: THE SWEDISH "GLÖGG"

Swedish glögg is a beloved warm, spiced drink that is a staple in Sweden during the winter season, especially around Christmas. It's a variation of mulled wine, made with red wine and flavored with traditional spices like cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom. This cozy beverage is typically sweetened and can be fortified with a stronger spirit like brandy or vodka. It's traditionally served hot with raisins and almonds, offering a delightful blend of sweet and spicy flavors that perfectly capture the essence of Scandinavian winter comfort.

Here's a traditional Swedish glögg recipe with a Cocktailored twist, you can always multiple the recipe and there is no rules, just add what ever you want, we at Cocktailored loves alcohol, so instead of adding nice flavors such as vanilla and orange, we added some Licor43 and Cointreau, who's gonna judge us?

Ingredients:
- 1 bottle of red wine
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 12 whole cloves
- 12 cardamom pods
- 0.5 dl (about 1/4 cup) granulated sugar
- 1 dl (about 1/2 cup) water
- 1 dl (about 1/2 cup) vodka, brandy, or your favorite spirit (we used rum as the base)
- 0.5 dl (about 1/4 cup) Licor43 (optional)
- 0.5 dl (about 1/4 cup) Cointreau (optional)

Instructions:
1. Place cinnamon sticks, cloves, and cardamom pods in a saucepan. Pour in the water.
2. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to allow it to simmer.
3. Add the sugar, stirring until it dissolves completely.
4. Let the mixture simmer for 5–6 minutes.
5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and strain out the cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves. Your spice infusion is now ready.
6. Mix the infusion with the red wine in a pot and heat it until it's almost boiling.
7. Take the pot off the heat and, if desired, stir in the brandy or vodka (or your choice) for a stronger glögg.
8. Serve the glögg steaming hot, accompanied with raisins and almonds.
