Oversized T-Shirt Size Guide: How to Choose Your Fit

Do not automatically buy a larger size because you want an oversized T-shirt. An oversized cut already includes extra room. Start with the specific product's size guide, then compare it with a T-shirt whose fit you like.

Oversized fit versus sizing up

A purpose-designed oversized tee can combine a wider body, dropped shoulders and roomier sleeves. A regular-fit T-shirt in a larger size can also become longer without creating the same proportions. Neither is the only right look; choose the measurements and shape you want.

How to measure a T-shirt you already own

  1. Lay it flat and smooth it gently without stretching it.
  2. Measure straight across the chest, from one underarm seam to the other.
  3. Measure length from the highest shoulder point beside the collar to the hem.
  4. Use the product guide's diagram for sleeve measurements, because starting points can differ.
  5. Compare like with like: centimetres with centimetres, garment width with garment width.

A flat width is not your body chest measurement. For example, a 60 cm flat width is roughly 120 cm around the garment; that does not mean it is recommended for a 120 cm chest. The difference between body and garment measurements provides room to move. Follow any product-specific measurement instructions.

Why the same tee looks different on different people

Height, torso length and shoulder width change where the hem and sleeve seams land. Someone with a shorter torso may find the same tee covers more of the hips. There is no need to assign a fixed cut to a body type: compare width and length together, then use model photos as a visual reference.

A concrete example from our collection

The Negroni Please Oversized T-Shirt is made from 100% cotton at 240 g/m², with a boxy fit and dropped shoulders. Its male model is 184 cm tall and wears XL. Those details describe that product and the photographed fit; they are not a size recommendation for everyone of the same height.

Browse the oversized T-shirt collection and open the size guide on the model you are considering. Fabric weight and construction also affect how a tee falls, so two shirts with similar measurements may feel different.

Between sizes: what should you compare?

Check both widths and lengths. The larger option may give more volume but also more length; the smaller option may reduce room at the shoulders and chest. Choose the combination closest to your reference tee and your preferred look, rather than following a universal size-up rule.

Do oversized tees need slim trousers?

No. Straight, slim or wide trousers can all work. Try the tee with the clothes you will actually wear and check that any jacket leaves room for the sleeves. Follow the garment's care label rather than trying to shrink it into a different size.
